I tried using the img tag in a post and it showed a broken image link.

That’s weird. Was the link directly to an image (not so something like an imgur album page) and was it HTTPS?

That URL is a web page, not an image.

Welp…what’s the best way to host a screen shot for apps? I figured imgur would work best

Imgur is fine (though note that I don’t know how long they retain images, your links might get broken eventually, as all of the images in old ChannelFireball GP staff applications are broken from last yearish), you just have to link to the actual image file, not the web page.
