Hey folks!
One of the points raised at a recent Planar Bridge meeting was that the current “blank page” form of tournament reports makes writing them quite difficult for some. The appearance of a blank page can make it very hard to start a tournament report, especially for those that struggle with more free-form writing, and this poses a significant hurdle for many judges looking to advance to L2. A suggestion that was raised was that a lot of the info we look for in tournament reports fits very well into a slightly more structured format (e.g. event type, format, role, overview, interesting call, takeaway, suggestions going forward, asking for thoughts from reader) and that a format similar to reviews (there is a default of fields w,x,y, and z; but you can add or modify these fields if you want to customize it) might make this a bit more approachable and less daunting for people to whom this is more of a challenge than it needs to be.
Is this something that could reasonably be implemented? It also might help to make sure that people see the things that we usually prioritize in tournament reports and lead to more in the way of constructive, interesting reports and fewer event summaries.
Thank you for your time and consideration!
